Kyle Currie Memorial Fight4Life Halifax 2016 Bursary

Fight4Life Halifax received 17 submissions from family members of IAFF268. All applicants were asked to write and submit a composition on how the family unit support their members of IAFF268 to reduce stress when they are on and off shift. The compositions were redacted to remove any identifying information and then sent to a subcommittee made up of active and retired firefighters that sit as Board members of Fight4Life. This group rated the compositions out of 100. The ratings were returned to the Fight4Life Board and then compiled into a spreadsheet and the ratings were averaged.

Fight4Life Halifax would like to announce that the Kyle Currie Memorial Fight4Life Halifax 2016 bursaries will be awarded to:

• Hannah McKinnon – $2500
• Gigi Young – $ 2500

All compositions were very impactful and all of them revealed a key message that the family unit as a whole,  make major sacrifices to support their firefighter person. The underlying theme of all submissions was the great deal of respect and admiration from the families for the job our firefighters undertake.
